Brought to you by the Brazen Head. You're welcome.
Easier than ever now with BiE & Thunderstore, both for mod-makers and mod-users. BepInEx (BiE) is open-source and trusted by thousands. Thunderstore is also a well-established mod platform, and mod managers make everything quite simple and smooth.
Basically Automatic vs Manual. Mod managers is the biggest advantage because they automate 90% of mod handling. Thunderstore is a battle-tested modding ecosystem that is actively maintained.
Depends on the mod. Some work fine. Others need all players running the same setup. Check each mod's page. Or just wing it and watch chaos unfold.
Check BepInEx/LogOutput.log for errors. Make sure files are in BepInEx/plugins/. Run the game once after installing BepInEx. Make sure your BepInEx is x86 version. Install mod dependencies. The usual troubleshooting dance.
Paradox Interactive owns the IP. Harebrained Schemes made it. We're just the community refusing to let it die. No official affiliation. Just obsessed modders.
Open your mod manager, search for Necropolis in the game list, and select it. The manager will detect your Steam installation automatically. If it doesn't, keep the MM open and wait for a bit.
Search for mods in the built-in browser. Click install. That's it. The mod manager handles BepInEx, dependencies, updates, and load order.
Always launch Necropolis through the mod manager. It'll load your mods and keep everything synced. Launching the game normally through steam will load the vanilla game.
For the brave souls who want full control or just enjoy doing things the hard way.
Head to the Necropolis BepInEx Pack on Thunderstore and download it.
Find your Necropolis installation folder. On Steam: right-click Necropolis → Properties → Local Files → Browse.
You should see Necropolis.exe in this folder.
Typical path: \steamapps\common\Necropolis\
Extract the contents of the BepInEx zip file directly into your Necropolis game folder.
You should now have a BepInEx folder and winhttp.dll alongside Necropolis.exe.
Download Necropolis mods from Thunderstore and place their .dll files into BepInEx/plugins/.
Some mods may have additional files or folders - follow the mod author's instructions.
Launch the game and your mods should load automatically.
